I am a first year in college thus i have loads of free time on my hands . For this reason i was thinking of setting up a business to have an income as I am sick of working in part-time jobs. As i am in college i was thinking of selling a product to workplaces on the "honour" system that is outlined in Freakonmics. This system was employed by a student in America , he left bagels in numerous workplaces and then later on collected the money. Do you think a system like this would work in Ireland or would people just take the product? I would love to hear any advice on ideas on a business that i could carry out with my limited time and money

The Book People do something kind of similar.

they leave a selection of books in the reception of a company for a few weeks and then come back to take orders from anyone who wants to buy them

the bagel one is madness imo, you'll never get the selection of what people want correct, and Irish people want to see it made in front of them.
