HI i have a question for the people who believe in jesus and the catholic church. This is not an arguement or attack so dont take it the wrong way.

I dont really believe in jesus and the whole deal that was told to me in an irish catholic christian brother school. But i think im an honest nice person ,who wouldnt go out of my way to harm or do wrong to any one.I dont go around bashing god or anything like that, i just dont believe what was told to me.

If im wrong and jesus does exist what will happen to me when i get to the pearly gates. Will i get the elevator back down to the bottom floor ??? I hear people saying all you have to do is on your death bed is accept jesus. Surely that is cheating.

John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever shall believe in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 14:6. "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

It's pretty clear imo. It doesn't seem to matter how well you live your life, if you don't believe in Jesus you're not getting into heaven

Note: I am not a christian

Don't think that is the full story. The regular Christian posters here point out that the fate of someone who had not heard the gospel is unclear. Alas that would not appear to be the case with the OP. Although that begs the question as to what constitutes a reasonable hearing of the Christian message. My excuse when I get to the gates is that I only heard it in a bland uninspired way, so that's much the same as not hearing it at all!

Doesn't the catholic church dam all non-members though?

Yeah I know what the regular christian posters say, that's why I said "it's pretty clear imo" ;)

As far as I'm concerned, "No one comes to the Father except through me" isn't really vague or unclear. My excuse when I get to heaven will be that there wasn't enough evidence to be able to pick one of thousands of unsubstantiated supernatural stories and declare it to be true and threats of punishment for non-belief weren't much of a motivation, not least because several of them threaten it. I'd also point out that I don't see how being able to believe an unsubstantiated story is a virtue worthy of eternal bliss and how not believing it deserves punishment regardless of how good the person is

Anyone ever wonder if maybe God deliberately made those stories vague and difficult to believe just to test our rationale because He only rewards rational people?:D

The OP had asked a question about Catholic beliefs.

It would have been nice if a Catholic poster had the opportunity to answer his question before it was hijacked and turned into the muppet show.

As a non-Catholic I was deliberately refraining from chipping in my two cents. If some of you other guys can't display similar restraint then we'll just have to ban you from the forum.

    Another thread bites the dust.
