I actually used them for the first time this weekend. My friend introduced me to them - her being an avid wearer! She put mine on so I really can't give any tips on that (yet - am going to give them a shot myself soon!) but the brand she used on me were actually from the Girls Aloud range - mine were the Kimberley ones. She said they're readily available in pharmacies and boots etc, but when I find them myself I'll stick up where I got them. AFAIK they're only about €6/7 too so not gonna break the bank!

What is with the whole fake eyelashes trend now? See more and more people wearing them every day all day and absolutely loads of stock in shops now. IMO unless you really need them (i.e. you got very short eyelashes and have tried using lengthening mascara or curlers etc... ) they look a bit stupid, especially if you're not using the right eye make up with it. The individual ones would be the ones I would go for if I started using them, least then you can pick and place wherever you want and still look somewhat natural.

i want to get them as im dressing up for halloween and as im not wearing face paint or anything i want to exaggerate my eyes more.

as regards of the trend.....well each to their own. as with everything if they're worn right they can look nice.

+1 for the Girls Aloud range. I have used the Sarah Harding ones and got loads of compliments on them. Most Boots should stock them and theyre reasonably priced and reusable too. The main thing is the glue. Cheapy ones normally have crap glue so id deffo recommend them if you havent used them before.

Same here, bought the Sarah ones a while back but haven't used them yet, mainly because any I've tried in the past haven't worked. There's some tutorials on You Tube on how to use them that are meant to be good so I'll have a look at them first before I try them.

There's sets of the Girls Aloud ones out for Christmas too. You get all 5 for 25 quid or something? Worth it if you weren't sure which ones you like.

I wanted to get some for halloween too.

Got some in boots yesterday for €6.69, they're the Ardell Fashion lashes and are very easy to apply and remove!

    it was these ones

I use them all the time, when you are putting them on, ensure u have your eyeshadow on first, avoid using eyeliner or liquid eye liner until after they are on and the glue has dried fully.... otherwise your just asking for disaster...

To make sure they are secure enough that you feel comfortable wearing them, lob on LOADDDSSSS of glue.... the glue is usually white, however it turns see-through when it is dried so you can use as much glue as you like.

Don't worry if there is LOADS of white everywhere, because it WILL dry and turn clear.

When it is dried, ensure you put a thin layer of liquid black eye liner on the rims, to disguise the spaces marks from the individual lashes.

so, as i am only wearing liquid liner and not shadow you would recommend putting the lashes on first?!
interesting, i would have put it on first and prob made a mess of myself!

Where did you get them so cheap??

Well its really a matter of personal choice really....
If you base your look on just liquid eye liner with no shadow, perhaps put a teeeeny tiny thin line on before hand for under the glue, although i really don't think its necessary. Once the lashes are applied you can lob on as much or as little as you want and it generally covers any blank marks.

I usually find that putting the liquid on first makes the glue a little dodgy and are more inclined to fall off quicker. putting them on a fresh coat of shadow or skin will stick them good and fine! and then the liner on top for an extra bit of protection!

Also, when applying the glue to the lashes, place it on your hand first, on the flat between you thumb and forefinger... that big area there. Leave the glue in a long line and count to about 20 or 30 till the glue is a little tougher. this will avoid mess on your eyes and makes the lashes easier to control.

I wouldn't bother putting them on with a tweezers. You'd do a better job pushing them into place with you finger.

For extra volume and glamor, apply some mascara afterward.

Do NOT put mascara on your original eyelashes before applying lashes

    Sam McCauley's Chemist

Fend: when you're taking the lashes off, how easy is it?

You should go to The Lash Bar in Powerscourt, they have such a good range. If you want to do it cheaply, apply them yourself although I think it's only around 20 euro to get them put on in there. They sell a glue as well that is black so it kind of looks like eyeliner when the lashes are on. They should last a few uses. I got a gorgeous pair but a little bit worse for wear slept in them so they were all crinkly when I woke up!!!!
