Im sitting here trying my hand at a bit of songwriting.

The more words i write i wonder "Is this what people want to hear?"

So just curious what is missing from the market at the moment???

what would you like to hear?

(i realise this thread will invite some ridiculously sarcastic responses but i welcome those too )

    :)

    Whatever you want to sing.

I'll decide from there if it's something i want to hear and support.

Generally speaking, thats the way it works most of the time.

Ugh. Write for yourself and nobody else. That's what it's about.

From my own point-of-view, the more a songwriter is trying to please people, the less I'm going to like it. I want to hear someone being themselves and singing something that they really believe in.

the minute you hear the inner critic tell them to shut the hell up

most people don't know what they want to hear, that's the beauty of being a songwriter: you decide.

If you're determined to write for 'the market' good luck. It's a long unrewarding road.

you sing anything and it will appeal to someone....
Just be original (easier said than done...)

It's not about what other people want to hear, it's about what you want to write about. You're making music because YOU like music, it's about what YOU feel, YOU'VE seen and YOU'VE gone through etc nobody else.

Once you can get over the obstacle of worrying about what other people will think of your songs then you'll be flyin.
