RPGs - want to learn!

    Hello all,

I managed to catch the tail end of this year's Gaelcon and after running into known fiend and misanthrope Sarky, he informed me with much girlish glee that he'd acquired a new book in the form of the Rogue Trader RPG source book.

Now, I'm a BIG fan of the universe that GW have created and I recall years ago they had a 40k Rogue Trader army list published in Citadel Journal which tickled me pink!

However, I'm very keen to give this game a look but am more or less clueless about RPGs. I've played some at Gaelcon and Warpcon and have been fortunate to have been at tables with patient people who would explain rules and general "how to" stuff of being in an RPG. As an experience, I enjoyed it, but really fancy the opportunity to create and grow a character and since the 40k verse is something I know and love, why not start there?

Are there any experienced heads intending to run any regular or semi regular games of this in Dublin city? I'd love to get involved and learn how it all works. Alternatively, if people had a suggestion for a better game to "start" with, I'd be interested.

    Thanks!

Step 1 nag Sarky into writting a rogue trader game for warps/itzacon
Step 2 turn up and play it.

I've been giving some thought to running a tabletop game in Cassidy's on Westmoreland Street on Thursdays - fixed duration, say, four weeks. Happy to invite you along if'n yer interested and can make it. I'm still sort of discussing with potential players right now.

The catch is that I wanted to run the Judge Dredd RPG rather than Rogue Trader...?

    I hate you.

Also, after playing nothing but Borderlands for almost a solid week, I have ideas!

Isn't there a semi regular Dark Heresy game going on there?

Finding a roleplaying group shouldn't be that hard, but finding one to play a specific game might be trickier.

Hey Nick, I'd be delighted to join in - not all that familiar with the Judge Dredd universe, but that's not a problem for me if it's not a problem for you :D

Will also see what the deal is with the Dark Heresy game too.

    Thank you all!

Not familar with the Judge Dredd 'Verse?

Well, if you do ply the Judge Dredd one, here's a small tip .. T-Rex's don't like it when you hit them with stumm gas. I think we had to use hi-ex rounds to bring that one down.

Then find out who was smuggling T-Rex's, and arrest the creep :)

Perp, arrest the Perp and sent to the Cubes.

I was running a 40K game (Last Chancers Penal Legion, for those interested) here through a rules-lite GURPS system, but it died off for various reasons. I was quite inexperienced at the whole play-by-post lark, everyone had commitments, and so on.

I'd be willing to give it a go again with Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader if I could get an interested posse together.

I'd be interested, if you have space. My pen and paper group wouldn't be that interested in stomping round the Imperium, and I've got a good bit of time spent on forum based RPing as well.

    I'm down with that too.

Also you fluggers, it's not my fault I'm from Mayo and never had access to things like 2000AD :) Incidentally, the same friend who introduced me to Games Workshop also had a massive Judge Dredd poster on his wall, but would never lend me any of the comics or books he had :(

Dredd is a good read. I heartily recommend picking up some of the early stuff, like the Dark Judges, Judge Cal and the Block Mania / Apocalypse war. There's also a crossover with Johnny Alpha called Judgement Day thats well worth a read. Judge Dredd + Zombies, what more could you want?

I also recommend Rogue Trooper and Nikolai Dante.

oooh, anything that Dan Abnett's worked on is of interest to me :)

I'll start wrangling up some Dredd stories to be reading so...
