    Guys,

I'm starting to have problems with my car. Its due for a service this week and yesterday when i started to use the brakes, there was a creaking sound to it, it was uncomfortable. The car itself runs fine but when i put on the brakes, it sound terrible. What am i looking at here?:mad:

My car is a opel meriva

Probably your brake pads are worn. Usually about 150-200 for a set fitted per axel

New pads can whine/creek just as much as old ones. This doesnt mean there is anything wrong with the brakes. It is possible they are nearly worn but this isnt the cause of this noise. Dont go in asking for new pads just because of this. The noise is caused by a very fine vibration at the pads. A small bit of copper grease on the back of the pad (away from the braking friction material) is the recognised fix. This will require the pads being removed. For that reason, if they are 3/4 worn, get new ones but as said, the wear isnt the reason for the noise. New pads should also have a smear of copper grease put on the back

Apologies there, meant for 4. Changed what I was writing half way through...

Paid 220 for 4 pads last time OP fitted
