Just saw this article while searching for apps. I'm not sure how old the article is but it's sometimes hard to know which apps are of any use so found this really helpful.

    Pandora
    Midomi
    Remote
    Yelp
    ShoZu
    NYTimes
    WritingPad
    Stanza
    Jott
    Google Mobile App
    Instapaper

I've installed Stanza and Instapaper and so far I quite like them.

I use Stanza, remote and the google app, like them and they geta bit of use.

Midomi is very similar to Shazam, Shazam is free so it gets my vote.

I'll give instapaper a go, if it does as it sounds then it'll get a lot of use. Basically an offline reader. so I'll need that alot (ipod touch, not iphone)

Writingpad sounds like a good idea, its called shapewriter now, comes in pro or lite version, but both are paid versions, i'd like to see apple include this in the next update, and the keyboard needs to be improved

Stanza is great for what it is. Downloaded a few classics yesterday that I've always wanted to read so I'll give it a decent trial over the next while.

I think the Google app comes as standard with the new 3gs.

What's Remote like? Is it only really of use with Apple TV? Can it be used with Media Centre?

Yeah the article mentions Shazam and I had heard of it before but couldn't remember it's name. I had searched for music recognition apps but only got results for paid apps.

Yeah it's an offline reader. Really handy app. I'm always picking up articles in work that I don't have time to read so this is great for picking them up to read later.

You register on the site with just your email and then pop a button onto you quick link bar on your browser that says "Read Later" and any time you want a page/article sent to your iphone/ipod you just click the button and it's sent to you.

Ah it must be an old article so, because I tried searching WritingPad and got nowt. Seems like a strange concept but it's probably better than the current set up.

Is there an app that turns the qwerty keyboard into a standard phone abc, def keypad?

Yeah, I'd say that article is the bones of a year old. It keeps talking about the new 3G, which is 18 months old at this stage.

Midomi used to be free. I know I downloaded it at the launch of the App Store for free, and I got the newer version for free too.

I've used Wattpad too, it hasn't got as good a selection as Stanza, and the interface is a bit tacky, so as soon as I read catch-22 and rules of attraction i'm deleting, I might even swap them over to stanza

If you have itunes playing songs on the laptop or pc, you can control it remotely from the ipod/iphone, great for partys

    Only if you are jailbroken

I bought air video last week for $3 and its a fantastic little app.

Basically you can stream all your video media(nearly all formats supported except DRM files) from your PC/Mac to your iphone/ipod touch instantly. No need to wait to reformat files and then load them onto your device and also no space issue. The app transfers them on the fly so after an initial 10-15 second buffer, the file plays instantly!

How does it stream? Is it over Bluetooth where you have to be in the locality?

Isn't there an app where you stream content from your home pc from anywhere?

It streams over wifi and also 3G.

I`ve only used wifi as I have a ipod touch.
