Nice shots... I've got some pictures from some airshows back in the 80s ( Fairyhouse I think? ) that I'll have to scan in. They're fairly old, anyone remember when pictures were developed with round corners? :) Anyhow, there are some shots of the Red Arrows and a B-17 and A-10 if I remember correctly...

I'd say that was Baldonnel.... i remember it, would've been around 88/89.

Glorious blue skies that day, great airshow weather.

They had some beautiful aircraft there too, the B-17 was SallyB, there was a Cataliina, think she was in RAF colours

The first Aer Lingus plane, Iolar (maybe a re-furb)
a whole bunch of others too...

Ha I was at that airshow in the 'shrule. That's where I got my first spin in a microlight.

    Have a PPL now.:D

Do any of these match up with what you've got?

there are some shots of the Red Arrows
That was probably Baldonnel in 1987 which was the first display of any RAF aircraft in the Republic since Baldonnel was an RAF base. It's hard to believe now when airshows like Salthill are dominated by RAF and RN displays that until then no RAF aircraft displayed here. In fact I think it was only in 1992 that any RAF aircraft other than the Reds displayed. A couple of Harriers. That was at the 'private' 70th anniversary airshow, no public admitted. The likes of Fairyhouse never had an RAF display.

Yep, those pics look familiar, especially the B-17 and A-10 flying together! :) Baldonnel in '87 it must have been, though I've a sneaking suspicion I might have earlier pics as well. They're in a bag in the spare room somewhere, I'll have to go look for them this evening...

Well, I had a look and found quite a lot of pictures, most of them pretty poor! I think I've at least 3 different airshows worth ( judging by the weather in the background ). Here are a few of the better ones. I don't have them online so it looks like my only option is to add them as attachments, sorry!

And the last couple. Anyone have any idea of what years all these pics could be from ( apart from the Red Arrows / B17 ones, which we now know were 1987 )?

I'd say they're from 1997, 75 years of the IAC, Baldonnel.

Sorry, but they're all definitely from the 80s. I remember watching the '97 show from Citywest ( as I worked there at the time ). These pics were taken when I was a lot younger! :)

I believe, it's a JaboG 31 'Boelcke' Tornado, in some anniversary scheme. This unit celebrated 50 years in 2008, which means:
    1998 - 40 years, not possible
    1988 - 30 years
1978 - 20 years not possible as this unit was equipped with Starfighters, I believe

    or:

    1993 - 35 years, not possible
1983 - 25 years, not possible as the unit recieved their Tornados in 1984

...So it must be 1988 most likely, or it could be 1987 as well

If you have trawl on airliners.net and worldairpics.com I think you will find accurately dated photos for a number of the Air Spectacular shows at Baldonnel. Several of the aircraft in your photos are featured. By the way, the Aer Lingus 747 is from 1987:
