Impressions after 1st spin

Since I got the bike on Saturday I only had a very quick spin on it and tweaked a few things.

Got cycling around town this evening. Really like how the bike ride, seems smooth and effortless.

Until the crank/pedal suddenly felt like it had been bent  On closer inspection it only seemed to be coming lose  Not more that 10mins cycling for it to come lose! Hand tightened it and went in to a skateshop on Oconnell st looking for allen keys. Both crank arms needed a lot of tightening!

Are these not the kind of details you expect them to check over when building the bike? (even in Halfords)

More of a rant than a 1st impression really, they just happened to coincide. Hopefully future miles will be less trouble some, and I'll carry a set of allen keys with me as well.

One thing Halfords are not really known for is assembling bikes correctly.

Maybe thats because it's not on their Pre-delivery inspection safety certificate? Closest is check BB bearing. The lad I know there didn't build they bike, would trust him with it but don't know the others there.

It didn't fall of or cause an accident and hopefully no damage was done either. If it's comes lose again I'll get some locktight at it.

Bring it back to Halfords and get them to fix it properly. Not sure what bike it is but if it is an SRAM crank like on the Boardman road bikes you need to torque it down A LOT. Really should be using a torque wrench to get it right. Incidentally this happened to me once with a Bontrager crankset up on Sally Gap (Bontrager cranksets are made by SRAM and use the same system.) It is quite difficult cycling with one leg I discovered.

I just tightened it up in the skate shop, good and tight. To much hassle to take it back. I had to tighten the headset as well a little cause I noticed a little bit of play in it.
