Pronounciation of the word ''skeet''

    you know the word ''skeet'' / ''sket'' [not sure of spelling:rolleyes:]

    i heard these ppl from the north who used it, and i understand it refers to a somewhat promiscuous female.


    how is it properly pronounced

    is it

    s-key-it

    or

    schkeeeet

    or

    sket

    ...

    can someone shed light please:)

    Sket.. rhymes with get, met.
    Obviously it might be pronounced differently over in Norn Iron because of the accent, but it's English slang and that's how it's said here

    It's just another word for a slag/slapper/whore.

    Didn't know it wasn't used in Ireland

    In Norn Irish it would be pronounced ssssh--keeet.
    fluent speaker but ive never heard it before
    I think the term milly is more commonly used

    The 's' is silent, as in precis, the 'k' is silent as in knock (the first one), the two 'e's are silent as in France, so it's just pronounced 't' as in nation.

    I've always heard it pronounced "sket" or "skehh" in Laois.
    I prefer to say "schkeeee".
