what i'm trying to say is that when i bought my O2 broadband it was 30 quid a month and now a girl in my class has it for a tenner. makes me feel awful bad paying so much for it. i have had it for over a year but do i have to wait til the next year is up to change? and how do i change?

what was your contract duration? 12 or 24 months ?

If you're out of contract, you can probably start a new one. You'll be required to buy a new modem, as O2 won't give the contract without that, and a new SIM. There's a 28 day notification period on your current contract too.

If you're not out of contract, you'll have to buy out, or just keep it.

it was a 12 month contract so i should be able to leave no problems but seems a waste and a lot of hard work getting new modem etc when the current one works perfectly. red tape i'm sure

Unless O2 allow you to renew with the new contract, that's the procedure you'd have to follow. You'd have to ask O2 about that though.

I am suprised you were paying €30. When I signed up it was €40 a month and they then started to offer it to new customers for €20 a month. I just asked them if I could get the new rate and they said yes. So now I have the cheaper €20 rate but can download more the 10Gb without getting charged as I am still on the old download agreement.

You should check to make sure they didn't put you on the 18 month contract when they changed the price plan.

    You sure can I did!

And you don't need to buy a new modem! You will be required to go into a further 12 month contract though. But if you're happy with the price and service what's the harm!

What you need to do is pop into an O2 store with a valid 09/10 College ID and they'll give you the new rate. They can't give it over the phone as they'll need to photocopy your ID.
