This looks like the correct forum for my question, so here goes:

Does anyone know if there's a technical term for the heads that you see on buildings, usually on cornerstones, or at the top of a window frame.

    Thanks.

The correct name is Mascaron, sometimes, in the case of grothesque faces, the term gargoyle is used, but this is wrong. And should only refers to water spout statues.
