Solicitor Longford/Roscommon area

    Hi there

I am NOT looking for legal advice on here but I just wondered if anyone knows of a Solicitor in Longford town (or the Strokestown area in Co Roscommon) that has a good rep. I’m not asking for anyone to criticize Solicitors either btw – (I would just be happy if someone gave a name of a Solicitor they might have even heard about who sorted out things for people they know for example).

Its just I’ve looked through the phonebook/goldenpages etc but obviously they list everyone who is a Solicitor so its hard to know which one to choose. I would be really grateful if the Mods let this post stay (and also even more grateful for anyone who replies!) Also if its preferable please PM me.

    Many thanks. :)

What's wrong with a phone book?

    Hi there

Nothing wrong with a phone book except its more of a directory/listing source & if I choose someone from it then it will be kind of like closing my eyes and sticking a pin in the list.. i.e., pot luck! Therefore I just wondered if anyone could recommend someone (if not I probably will end up doing the above!).

In fairness I don't see anything wrong with the OPs query. On the motors forum (for example) people often recommend and equally criticise garages. Nothing wrong with doing similar for solicitors I would think!

Btw I have no idea about solicitors in Longford or Roscommon.

Neither do I see anything wrong with the OPs query, the phonebook may work just as well.

On the criticism piece, the MODS here are busy enough without have a 'rate my solicitor' type of exercise. I have no issue with positive recommendations, but have been called over to other threads to remove or comment on so called recommendation requests/threads which get out of hand and have to be subsequently moderated.

Mixed views on it, just so you know my thoughts.

Many solicitors difficulty in dealing maturely with complaints by clients is exactly why silly websites like rate my solicitor exist I think.

But all said the internet is too fluffy a medium for getting any decent advice in this regard.

I'm agreeing with Tom on this because there are potentially people with vested interests reading/posting on this forum.

Sure I could turn around to the OP and say such in such is good, instruct him or her.

I mean 99% of prastising solicitors can handle competently 98% of run of the mill stuff that people look for "a good solicitor" to do whether it's personal injury, family, probate, commercial, crime etc etc etc.

OP no harm in asking but talk to people you know have been consumers of legal services.
