I'd imagine there must be some rust on it by this stage but then you were hardly thinking of buying it to use?

Well.. that intrigued me, it looks like the razor is 'marbled', it might have been a brown in the first place, possibly a bakelite like material.

The photo that makes me think it is something other than metal, or that what you're seeing isn't rust, is this picture:

Open Comb, nice design, would it accept a traditional Gillette blade?

The bar is closed off, but there's a comb.. odd.

I can't comment on that ebay razor but I've just had an excellent shave with a razor that's almost ninety years old and it hasn't a speck of rust.

My dad has one of these, he found it diving a wreck off Normandy somewhere. Its made from Brass.

I'd be more concerned over being possessed by the spirit of a dead german soldier and going on a killing spree in Isreal or something...

or is that just my excuse?

    Yep, certainly looks like Bakelite.

German World War 2 razor? Surely the correct terminology is 'nazi shaving kit' or failing that simply, 'Hitler's razor'.
