Timetabling in WIT

Hi guys, I'm doing some research for my 4th year project, and I need to find out about the timetabling systems in other colleges from mine, but most of them are hidden or locked out from the public, any chance there is someone here who could give a quick answer to a few of these questions? (Also posting this to a few other college boards so hope it isn't marked as spam!)

    - Does your class timetable system give you a personalised timetable based on the modules/classes you actually have yourself or do you just get a generic timetable for your class with electives not included?

    - Is there a name for your timetabling system (product name for the package used)?

    - Is there any other means of accessing the timetable system (other than the main website for it)?

    - Are you notified of changes to your timetable?

    Thanks a lot :-)

Neither. Its a standard timetable for all which includes all running electives. So if I picked Module X and my friend picked Module Y, we both have the same timetable and just cross out the modules we are not taking.

Not on our timetable I don't believe.

Iv found the version on the web very confusing, so I don't use it. In our department, the timetables are up on a noticeboard and we can ask for copies or just take them down ourselves. In other departments, you have to take down the timetable yourself and wont be given copies.

Not always. Generally I keep an eye but this year since my course leader is lecturing us, she generally tells us and gives us a copy of the new timetable (sometimes).

Thank you very much! So you get a timetable for your course that includes all electives. Interesting. Here in CIT you can sometimes have electives that are from outside your course completely so they don't show up on the timetable at all unless you look up the class individually.

Thanks again though, this helps :-)

All our year electives appear. For example, I do Forensics and others do Gaming. Both elective subjects appear on the timetable so I cross out the gaming stuff and they cross out the forensic stuff. We don't get electives that have nothing to do with our year or course appear. Obviously, we don't get subjects that have nothing to do with our course/year appearing on the timetable.

Each timetable is timestamped so you can tell when it was changed.

Ill scan you a copy of a timetable and PM it later this week if that helps?

It can be personalised. But it's not available due to security and political reasons.

    Yes, it's called Syllabus Plus.

It can be accessed via our Moodle system and Intranet, but again due to political reasons it's not been made available to students.

If it was more available and transparent, then yes students would be notified a lot easier.

If you need more info on this PM me.

We get both completley personalised timetables and the option to view the generic timetable for the whole class. We can also view individual module timetables

If there is, it has never been made public..

No, it is far too complex to have a paper copy. Paper copies of examination timetables are provided though.

Changes are not made to the timetable after Week 3 of the semester by the administration. Any changes made must be agreed with the lecturer in question and are made off-timetable

This is different then how it operates in School of Science, so it might be useful if you state what school you have the above with. :)
