Finance Check

    quick one!

a motorcheck of a car reveals it has a finance agreement attached to it.
the car is an April 2004 registered car so even if there was a 5 year HP on it, it should be cleared by now.

the current owner has it 2 years, and i know for a fact he has no finance on it.

is it possible the finance agreement hasnt been cleared from the system yet?
    how long would it take?

or indeed how would i go about finding out where the car is/was financed with?

    thanks.

I use cartell, not motorcheck, and don't know if they work off the same database. cartell often comes back with a "need to check with finance institution" message. During bank opening hours they will then follow up with a final staement of status. I assume in these cases that their database can be out of date and they then check with the bank for the current status.

Sometimes if there is finance owing they will come back with name of finance institution. Once they asked me for location of the vehicle because bank wanted to find it to repo it !

So to answer your question, sounds like the motorcheck info could be out of date ?
