    Hey guys,

I am transcoding my first MKV file ever atm, the first attempt didn't go so well (I had forgotten to click 'always transcode DTS' so the sound probably wouldn't have worked anyway) I clicked on the converted file (a .mpg) within my PC and none of my players could support it. I assume its not the DTS thing becasue the PC would ave just played it without sound?

Assume if it won't play on my PC, it won't play on the PS3 so I have to try again. It is automatically set to transcode to Mpeg-2. Haven't touched many of the other extensions (they are mostly automatic).

    Gonna try again? Any suggestions?

I remember looking into this and I found this guide. I've never actually tried it myself though since I didn't get a ps3. Not sure if it will help you

I use all the default settings from when I first started the app. Never ticked the "always transcode to DTS" and it always worked on my PS3. I sometimes file splitted it into 4Gb blocks, but that's the only option I ever messed around with. Excellent app.

VLC Media Player will play it (and everything ;)).

Use MKV2VOB alot and its always worked. Never ticked the 'Always Transcode DTS' box though

Cool. It works on the PS3 despite not working on my PC.

Anyway, it says to transcode DTS if you DON'T have a sound system which supports it (and I don't) so I did.

I have Always Transcode DTS ticked as a every now and again some of the videos would just have static and instead of sound and that was the suggested fix (my sound system supports DTS).

You need to tick file splitting: FAT32 if any of your files are over 4gbs.

I also set Transcoding Codec to x264 High Bitrate. Not essential, but it works quite fast and doesn't increase the file size by too much.

Only thing to watch out for is foreign language films, hardcoding the subs can take absolutely ages and also increases the filesize by a lot, not sure why though!
