Really disappointed not to make it down!!, but 2 x 4.5hour drives just for a 60 shot match was always going to be a tough call!!;), has anyone got results for the day?;)

Don't have detailed results, but Mike won it with 579. Very tough day, seriously difficult to deal with. I shot pants, had a 563.

If you can make it it's well worth the trip. Real pleasure to shoot there. One of the nicest and most challenging ranges I've seen. Having seen our interest, they're considering running two shoots next year. We may have photos from the day, which I'll throw up if I can get hold of the photographer.

Have contacted the photographer. Hopefully have stuff soon enough. Will fire them up in this thread when I get them. Suffice to say, nothing to threaten the groups you stuck up recently. :p

Roll on a successful indoor season now. Hopefully bid goodbye to class B after this next match (prone - not 3P. That will not go quite so well)

Yeah, and have my f***in' arm fall off after about 2 minutes!:)

But definitely count me in for the next trip - once you guys are happy that I wouldn't embarass DURC TOO much!:o

Once a member is at the stage where they're
    1. Safe enough that a range officer won't have to expend undue effort minding them.
    2. Capable enough that they can shoot a match without causing themselves an injury and without needing assistance.
    3. At a standard where they won't be disheartened by their score.

then DURC is usually more than happy to bring newbies to a match.

There's always a bit of a concern that someone would be put off by being brought to a competition where they're beaten by a big margin. It's hard to predict too; I never thought I'd feel like that but seeing myself on page 2 of the results at the Isle of Man Easter shoot was surprisingly difficult to take. It certainly dented my pride. :o

Either way, I'd prefer that DURC brought 10 people at a match with 5 of them propping up the bottom and having fun at their first competition than just having the other 5 who've shot plenty of times. Everybody's gotta start somewhere and that somewhere is usually bottom of the results sheet. :)

Don't worry about me on that score! Already have come 2nd last in a shooting competition - so anywhere in the bottom 3 would be my usual spot to date!:o

Anywhoooo, I'm old and wizzened and wise:D....the auld pride has been dented by far greater things!:)

I like to think there's greater nobility to starting at the bottom and slogging your way up. *cough* That's my excuse anyway...

Well, if you start at the top of the slide.....:D

(Or maybe I shouldn't be paraphrasing that particular song on here!)

Well done Mike, very good shooting.

Now if that 92 has been like the rest of the strings.... ;)

It was one point off his outdoor PB. He was sickened! Still, think he likes his new jacket anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 682 ✭✭✭demonloop

Yeah, with his next 'worst' string being a 96, the 579 could have easily been a 583. Still, very good shooting, and good scores across the board.

    Thanks demon :)

I was well sickened alright. I think those scores are reversed, so the 92 was my 3rd string. I just wasn't comfortable getting down in position, which I ignored to my peril... Got up and sorted it out for the rest though.

And yes, I am very much liking the new jacket, exquisite tailoring and measuring on behalf of all involved :P

Its done by class as well, so don't worry. You get to slug it out with people of roughly the same ability as yourself for some silverware.

    +1

Talk to an RO about it next time you're down. I'm also gonna try to get some training going for a squad before I take off to Cork.
