As it says - cant get it off. yes i have screwed out the two allen key looking screws and it wont budge. I have not cleaned it in about 9months and it gets daily usage (1-2 per day)

I just do not want to have to take it to the guys in rathgar to clean it for me.

    Any suggestions?h

It's recessed in somewhat and can get quite tight with scale/gunk. Gently and slowly lever systematically around it with a screwdriver.

    Good guide here:

Out of interest, where can you get it cleaned in Rathgar, and any idea how much they charge? Would you be better off doing it yourself? My classic could really do with a spring clean :)

I presume the OP is talking about Kenilworth Electrical? They have a reasonable selection of spare parts and will service most (all?) gaggia machines IIRC.
