    Hi,
Just wondering does anyone know for sure whether

    A) You can use bus lanes on a bank holiday if the sign says it's a "Bus" lane Mon-Sat 07:00 - 19:00

    and

    B) If you have to "pay and display" (or if wardens/clampers work) on a bank holiday?

Links to legislation are a big plus :D

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Thanks a lot for the link that's great :)

Not sure about bus lanes myself. I rang a Garda station before when I was stuck in traffic on a bank holiday before and there was an empty bus lane beside me but they said it's whatever is on the sign so if it says Monday, it's still a Bus lane on a bank holiday Monday :o

IIRC correctly, bank holidays are treated as a Sunday where bus lanes are concerned, so if the bus lane is posted as being Mon - Fri or Mon - Sat, it's ok to use it, but not if it's Mon - Sun or 24 hours. I can't find any mention of it on the rules of the road or transport.ie website so don't blame me if you get done for it :P

Bank Mondays are treated as Sundays - so I would follow the rules for a Sunday. Don't know if that is actually written down anywhere though

I don't think I'd like to risk it unless I was caught in really heavy traffic and had to be somewhere that the cost of being late would outweigh that of the chances of getting a fine for the chance of it NOT being ok to drive in it on a BH Monday. Would be interesting to see if it's actually written anywhere :)
