Fair salary

I have been in my job for 6 months now-I work in accounts, have 3 years experience in accounting and passed ACCA 2 years ago. I also have 1 years general work experience gained after my degree. Salary is 42k per annum and with no chance of an increase this year due to company decision for all employees. Just wondering if people think this is a fair salary? The benefits are good but the hours are long, sometimes till 8 or 9 depending if its a particularly busy period or not..

There are a couple of threads in the accountancy forum about salaries, might be worth having a look there.

Seems a bit low considering you are qualified. I worked in Finance previously and was on 37,000 with no qualification.

Edit: I feel your pain about the long hours - one of the joys about working in Finance
