Problems with induction hob

I have a 3 year old De Dietrich induction hob that has stopped working on one side. Has anybody ever had one repaired? I've searched other forums and there seems to be a lot of mention that parts are very expensive. Again I get the technician out and the part ordered I am probably looking at a couple of hundred euro. I'm half thinking I might just buy a new one. Does anybody have experience of having one repaired?

i have repaired these hobs.very common problem. The power module fails on one side taking out two rings.Part is very expensive, you are looking at about 300 Euro for parts and labour.Chances are that the module for the other two rings will fail in the near future also

Cheers gar.k. I had that kind of figure in my head. Is it only De Dietrich induction hobs you've seen with these problems or, all induction hobs?

I'm very disappointed in my expensive De Dietrich hob to be honest. I'm sorry I told the builder not to plumb for gas at the hob location. He must have thought I was a right ejit considering he was putting gas in as standard. I have a contact in Whirlpool can get one of their hobs for trade price less a discount so I might just do that. I'm can get the ACM703/BA (60cm 4 zone) for €436.

From my experience, the De Dietrich induction hobs give the most trouble.Whirpool is pretty solid plus you get a good parts warranty
