Had a Specialized Sirrus - stolen. So looking for a replacement (this time i'll lock it better). Want a bit of your knowledge/experience to guide me.(seein as everyone on the cycle boards is sooo smart)

I've trawled through the boards here and i've been around the stores looking at similar bikes, the lad in cycleways was very helpful but said the new sirrus won't be in till mid december.

    here's a list I've looked at in the sub €500 region -

    Trek 7.1, Trek 7.2 €400-479
Claud Butler Levante €350 (2nd hand)
    CLaud Butler Urban ?
Giant CRS (couple of models from €340 - €460)
    Giant FCR €500
    Globe Vienna 01-02 €400-455
    Specialized Sirrus 2010 €470ish.

thing is I don't know the difference between a shimano altus and kick in the arse. I know the gearchange system on the sirrus was crap, the twisty hand grip ones so looking at rapid-fire ones which will be onthe new sirrus. My priorities are light, fast, sturdy as I'll be using it for commuting in and out of Dublin and fitness work. so if any of you own any of the above give me some of your thoughts. Thanks

I don't know what wheels are on the Specialized Sirrus 2010, but if it is fitted with Alex AS1 rims, I would avoid it.

I have the 08 Sirrus Pro which came with these rims. After about 9 months the rims developed cracks each side of the spoke holes (approx every 3rd spoke on both wheels). Specialized agreed to replace the wheels under warranty for Shimano RS 10's. No probs with these so far. Even been on a few Boards spins on it.

Good luck with whatever you buy.
