Apologies if this has been answered before. I'm bringing in a 07 plate 320D next week for a friend who lives in Cork. Can this be VRT'd in Dublin and acquire a Cork plate or will the car have to be registered in a local office in Cork ?

The plate it gets it based on the registered owners address. I think you can VRT it anywhere, but I noticed the Tallaght VRT voice mail specifically states they only deal with South CoCo Dublin. I went to the Navan one last week, I was the only person there and only one VRO agent was working that day (Wednesday). Seemed like there isnt much activity recently..

What he said. It doesn't matter where you register it, they'll pick up on the owner's address. You may need his/her PPS number.

You WILL need his/her PPS number. They require that. But yes, you can go anywhere, really. And reg is based on the address of the person it's getting registered to.

What happens when it is a car being brought in for a company? The company itself does not have a PPS number.

The company has a Tax number, too, similar to PPS.
