    Hi all,
I'm a very confused graduate who could do with any advice on offer!! :).
I have a Bachelor of Corporate Law and I am now interested in becoming a secondary teacher (Business). I am aware of the fact I need to get my primary degree recognised by the TC (which I am now in the process of doing) before I go on to do the H.Dip. I have a number of concerns/questions and I would really appeciate if anyone could give me some advice!!

    1. Does anyone know of any Corporate Law graduate that has gone into Secondary teaching?

    2. What are the chances of me been accepted/getting a place to do a H.Dip ( I have a 1:1 and a bit of substitution teaching under my belt)

    3. IF my primary degree is recognised I believe it would only allow me to teach the one subject (after the H.Dip) i.e. Business....Am I at a huge disadvantage only being qualifed to teach in one subject?? what are the chances of getting work??

Cheers guys any information or advice is much appreciated :)

This is how you work out your points for the PGDE

    http://www.pac.ie/pgdeinfo/PointsCalc.php?inst=pe

This is how many point you would have needed this year

http://www.pac.ie/pgdeinfo/points.php?inst=pe (be warned. This years points calculation system is different to next years. Every 2.5 percent increase in your grade got you an extra point before. Now it's every 2 per cent get you an extra point. As well before you could get up to 8 points for teaching hours done. That is being discarded)

I think politics is being introduced onto the leaving cert syllabus next year. If you have some of this in your law degree it could be a second subject

If you are theologically minded there is a h.dip in theology in st. patricks college maynooth part-time 1 year 2 nights a week I think for qualified teachers to allow them to teach religion

EDIT: Note the higher points for business subjects because of the quota.
