250km in a week is very respectable, keep it up so.

250 km in your first week on a mountain bike is impressive. Don't worry about speed at this stage (30km in 74 mins is very good for a guy on 10 Hamlets a day!) just focus on the time on your bike. One word of advice, be careful you don't overdo it as you could end up with an overuse injury especially if you push too hard for the first few weeks. Lots of spinning at a nice steady pace and make sure you have your position etc sorted. Lots of good advice has been given if you have been reading the threads as stated.

Forget about times...look towards sustainability and endurance, make it interesting, try and pick out interesting routes, give yourself realistic goals.
If your near Dublin give Ballinastoe a shot as this will definitely work up a sweat even if your a roadie or worse still hook up with a Boards spin, you can always just tag along for a leg :D

Well first week over and i feel great was out this morn at 7:30 30 kms nice easy pace lol was getting stiff on way back but really enjoying it, and have been passed out by many cyclists ,which is good sort of makes u want to catch up. Living in laois which is pretty mundane to be honest not a lot of clubs down here but might be a few from here so if you are out there let us know ,thanks again for replies.
