    According to Jen-Hsun

"Anyone can make chips", he says.

Apart from Nvidia, who can't make GT300, can't shrink GT200, can't make an integrated chipset that doesn't melt, can't make a normal chipset that doesn't shred your hard drive and can't make boards at a profit!

"We are tryiing to cover up the fact that we've been a major manufacturing failure since 2007/8 so we're diversifying our image a software company."

nVidia seem to be turning into a corporate version of Comical Ali.

In fairness I can see that being relatively popular if priced well. It's basically highend card and physics processor on the one board.

which only again begs the question why Nvidia doesnt revive the Physics card standalone.

It's a bit pointless when their graphics cards can act as a standalone too. It probably works out better economies of scales to sell more graphics cards then sell relatively few physics cards. Plus they have graphics cards at every price point, whereas with physics cards they only had them at €100+

If by well priced you mean a rrp of 399$ :o

I don't see many of these cards selling, not these days. Perhaps if this was introduced 18 months ago it would be a different story.

Says the guy selling 5850's on "special offer" - at the same price everyone else is selling 5870's.

Come on Slutmonkey that was harsh, that has nothing to do with with his point. But it did make me lol

Komplett are reasonable on pricing for a lot of things, but graphics cards have always been like their own little box of madness, shut off from the realities of the world, banging up against the bars, their feral mouths foaming at the lip and spitting in the face of god.

Even PC world have been known to charge less for graphics cards.

Btw has anyone noticed that Nvidia are providing C++ support on Fermi? That seems like a massive deal to me yet no one seems to have batted an eye lid at this...

It's only a big deal if you need to crunch a lot of numbers or need supercomputer type power, won't do much for games without industry wide support. Nvidia doesn't have an x86 license so they're not going to encroach on cpu territory.

but that raw number crunching could be incredibly useful for certain aspects on games: crowd simulation, audio spacialisation and you already have most of the physics pipeline on on the GPU...

Cuda is already C on GPU.
