Just wanted to get peoples opinions on possibly playing "Irelands call" before the playoff between Ireland and France at croker aswell as the national anthem.
I acknowledge it is a rugby song but i think it will put the fear of god into the French superstars with at least 70,000 Irish screaming "Ireland!" "Ireland!" "Together standing tall!" "Shoulder to Shoulder!" etc etc, would be class, think the song really adds to the atmosphere, cmon the Irish!!!!

Copacetic, do you have any logic behind your argument or are you suffering from the Eamon Dunphy controversy over fact syndrome? didn't know about the northern rugby players reason, the song states "the four proud provinces of Ireland", Given is from Ulster as well as Gibson so surely the song could represent the soccer team aswell as the rugby team?

Abomination of a song, and highly embarassing.

They shouldn't even sing it at rugby matches it's such an embarrassing song. I cringe every time I hear it.

its a disgrace i hate it, we should only sing our national anthem

Rugby fans hate it too tbh. It's widely supported for obvious political reasons, but no-one actually likes it. :p

In fairness it is for the Northern Irish Protestant contingent in rugby who wouldn't want to stand for the Irish anthem so this compromise was met. Given a Donegal man and Gibson do not fall into this category. It is a silly anthem and it is meaningless and should not be played along with our own.
