Companies offering a leave day on your birthday?

    Would anyone be able to tell me which
    multinational company or companies
    in Dublin south, offer an extra leave
    day on your birthday?

    In some organisations it's seen as a fairer benefit to offer employees than offering an extra day when they get married, or when they have a baby.
    Some employees are not legally entitled to get married, or may not have (or chose to have) a baby.

    However, ALL employees, regardless of family status, sexual orientation, level within the organisation etc etc has a birthday every year.
    It's one common denominator.

    Don't think it's hugely common at the moment, but that's the rationale behind it.

    Along with meal allowance and rent/mortgage supplement.

    Thanks for those responses......very interesting.

    The reason I asked is that one such company, identity unknown is seeking a Head of Talent (for which my skillset would be a match) and a birthday day off was one of the benefits listed by the recruitment agency. Was trying to narrow down which company it might have been. Seems this has led me up a blind alley! :rolleyes:

    In our place you get 5 days annual leave if you get married.

    carphonewharehouse..... they seem to get everything. just check the site.

    or then again if you have a nice enough HR manager he/she will just give you the day off.

    In our place we get those allowances i posted about earlier. 3 extra normal days leave (23 days total + birthday) . A week when you get married. A day when you move house.
    Birthday day. A free company doctor. A checkup every year. And the best bit. A masseuse comes in on a Monday. :D

    Most. I would be quicker naming the ones that dont than those that do.

    Easiest thing if you want to know is to look through the jobs on the job websites. You'll see the conditions of employment for the companies with the jobs.

    The reason i ask is that i work in financial services and friends do as well, in large organisations and smaller ones too, never heard of the birthday day off (except for a friend who works in the advertising industry), also never heard of people getting help with their rent or mortgages!

    a birthday day off isn't actually a benefit. instead of giving you 22 days off, a company will give you 21 days off plus your birthday off - it works out better for them because everyone has different birthdays, so they won't end up with people off at the same time. it's not a perk.

    Nope, I'm not. Not a boss or business owner either.

    That link doesn't work for me. The statutory amount of annual leave is 20 days per year in Ireland, so by definition, anything over 20 days is a bonus.

    If all that page says is that we have a low amount of annual leave compared to other EU, then that's irrelevant to this thread.
