Have a dell XPS M1710 gaming laptop for the past three years. Used different programs to protect it for the first two years, but for the past have been using the free avast program.

I'm a noob when it comes to the technical aspect of the finer details regarding computers, but can some recommend a more reliable(not that i have much trouble using avast) program..either subscription or free.

    thanks.

Hi I dont see a problem with avast.I have been using it for years along with spybot s&d and lavasoft adaware.Only had had 1 virus and that was my son downloading crap off limewire.

This site is great for free/paid software and nearly all software has been reviewed. You can set the search to look for free software and other catagories.

Perhaps some of the other posters here might recommend other software

Avast free is really good, I've been using it for years. You might want to try Threatfire, it works right alongside Avast and works great...PLUS...it's free too:

I also use FREE Spyware Blaster as a preventative:

Adaware hasn't been my choice for many years now.
