Bloody Garage!

I traded in my car in May in a garage in Dublin (won't name for obvious reasons). Signed my vehicle licensing cert and left it with the dealer.

Last week I received an eflow notice on the car I had traded in 5 months ago. Disputed it but failed as the car is still in my name.

Apparently the garage is gone out of business. I can't get in touch with anyone there.

Now I have received 4 more eflow notices. The tax has been up since August so whoever's driving it is knowingly breaking the law.

Any advice as to what i should do? If I contact Shannon can they transfer it out of my name? I have the receipt from the garage saying they've taken the car but will that be enough to sort it out?

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

A garage receipt saying they have taken over the car should be enough to clear you of all tickets etc that get clocked up.
I guess the registered owner of the garage would then be liable for the ticket seeing as it is them who has broken the law. Whether in business or not, the person responsible can still be traced surely. Even if the stock was sold at auction, the buyer must have a (traceable) motor traders number or else the auction people will automatically change the car into the new buyers name via shannon.
I would say it would be easy enough to trace. I would call to garda station and produce your garage receipt and anything else you have to shown you got ride of the car on that date.

Thanks for the reply Mick. Much appreciated.

I called into the guards today. He said not to pay a penny to eflow and to get onto Shannon. If the worst comes to the worst I think I have to get a sworn avidavit witnessed by a notary to say that I sold the car.

    Thanks again.
