Hi, first time poster here. I am currently in my second year of a minimum 3 year degree course. Up until now i have been living at home but in the last month I have moved in with my brother to help him pay his mortgage.

My question is, do you think that i would be eligible to apply for the maintenance grant next year in these circumstances and if so would a broadband bill in my name from this October suffice? Oh and by the way I'm 28 and a mature student!!

    Thanks in advance

I think so - you are living at an address different from your parents and have utility bills in your name - from oct the previous year . Apply to the co council that you are living in - they say two utility bills i had my car insurance and a few other official things that had my address at where I was renting. Once your course is a step up from the last one aka masters after degree and such should be fine - check out studentfinance.ie it will tell you all the requirements as an independent mature candidate

    god luck!
