Anyone ever bought a round the world (rtw) airplane ticket or have any advice re same. I'm looking at Oneworld rtw ticket. It includes American Airlines and a good number of others.

Have a look at staralliance.com too, used the online flight calculator, it's handy to see what is and isn't possible, once you have a finished itinerary you can send it off to them and you'll get a response with confirmation and a code back. They hold the details for a week or two so if you want to go ahead all you need is the confirmation code and if not the code just expires.

Oneworld has a similar calculator but I didn't use it too much. Some alliances are better than others depending on your route.

skyteam.com is the other main alliance but I've no experience of using it or what's on offer regarding RTW fares.
