Hi, myself and boyf thinking of going to cuba for two weeks around february. We both want to see a bit of the country and not spend too much money.
Grateful if anyone has any advice on
-if it is cheaper to book a package holiday and travel around from there
    -where are the must see's
-what is the story with VISA, do you need to book this before hand?
If any one has any tips I'd be really grateful:)

    I was there last june.

To answer your question - we booked a flight to Cuba and our first nights accommodation. If you are planning on staying in hotels for the duration of your holiday, it is much cheaper to book in advance. If you are planning on staying in Casa's it is better to book them when you get there.

We flew through Paris as it was cheaper, but next time I would pay the difference and fly through UK on Virgin. Once we had paid for meals, extra time, etc, there wasn't much of a price difference.

Buses, etc can be booked in Cuba cheaply, so don't worry about that.

Visa's we got in advance to be safe. They were about E22 from the embassy in Dublin

Thanks Dinkie, and sorry for the delayed reaction. Finally getting around to booking flights now, it looks like air france is around 40 euro cheaper than if we fly to gatwick, stay overnight there and then catch a plane to Havana with Virgin. Would you mind me asking why you'd fly virgin, better service? Have never flown air france before.
