LOSS ADJUSTERS

    Hi,

We have a small claim logged going through at the moment with our Insurance company. I have to obtain estimates and send them in. I asked them if they were going to send out one of their reps to look at the damage and they said that most Insurers won't bother sending anyone out if its under 3k anymore, unless there's a problem.

Anyone know? Not looking to make a quick buck, but it seems a rather loose arrangement?

loss adjuster is a phrase usually used in connection with a property damage claim, whereas assessor is used for motor claims.

It is not a loose arrangement at all. Significant claims require the input of qualified and experienced personnel, but smaller claims are dealt with, on trust from the client, by in-house staff examining correspondence. Never, ever think that claims dealt with without inspection are a soft touch. Spurious claims are what brighten a handlers day and they wait for them to land on the desk

No its a leak under our sink that damaged our units and tiles.
Not a big deal at all, was just hoping the Insurers will see it that way too.

The claims handlers will know what's reasonable for the type of damage you've sustained so once you're content the quotes you get are for making good the full extent of the damage and the insurer feels that these are reasonable they'll proceed. Sometimes they get lucky with quotes far lower than the amount a loss adjustor would authorise so it cuts both ways in benefits, sometimes they 'win' and sometimes they 'lose'.
