I was just wondering what's the deal with student services this year??

I've heard that they have been severely cut. I was trying to obtain a service for a friend the other day and had no luck!

What are we paying our capiation fee for??

€1500 such a joke. More money for a reduced service!!

That price wasn't set by DIT... and more money for less stuff... that pretty much describes a recession. Welcome.

The cut backs are a joke. Some people were simply scammed out of that €1500. It was brought up at the DIT student union meeting with the heads of school and apparently some courses have had roughly 50% of their course content dropped due to cut backs. That's absolutely absurd.

How DIT can hand them a degree at the end of the course that says they're fully qualified when they've missed half of a whole year is beyond me. Its a major hit to the crediblity of DIT as an 3rd level educational institution.

    Correct :D

Though it is true, a recession does mean that the value of your money lessens, so you get less for what you spend, etc.

Interestingly I had a conversation with a lecturer who was bemoaning the situation. They're under-staffed and over-worked this year to a huge extent and he did say he wants students to fight, and fight hard. Education is suffering this year, a lot.

Chances are, they will be all dead when the time comes:pac:
Moving out of Ireland really seems to be the only sensible solution at this stage.

    Actually I am studying business...

Yes I do know what a recession is myself and my family as are many other families are badly effected by it!

My point in all this was, that there are certain services in DIT that some people need and cannot get...

Some people cannot afford to go outside college and pay privately for such services that are supposed to be covered under our capitation fee!

This government needs a big kick up the back-side!!
