No Irish channels broadcast in HD

For FTA HD there is BBC HD, ITV HD and Luxe HD on satellite.

    3 points to make:
    1) Ariel is washing powder.
    2) No such thing as a hdtv aerial - aerials are aerials - some grouped and some are wideband, vast majority capable of picking up hd transmission as long as it's within the particular group if it is a grouped aerial.
    3) As pointed out no HD yet in ROI or NI for that matter.

Depends on your TV, depends where you are and also how many years you are willing to wait for RTE in HD.

Jeez Digifriendly real nice reply to a member who only has TWO posts.
I'm sure it will encourage He/She to ask something they don't understand again.

Steady on Digifriendly, the technical value of your answer had been overwhelmed and swamped by your incredibly smug attitude.

    OK,

There are irish channels broadcasting test transmissions at the moment, for the constantly pending launch of irish Digital Terestrial Telly (DTT).
You can read more about that over there -> http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=56

If you want, you may be able to get non-digital channels 1 to 4 and maybe some UK ones, without any outdoor equipment, it really depends on where you live.
The DTT channels can be plugged into your TV using a HDMI cable - this will 'upscale' the SD signal and make it loook a bit better. But the actual launch of the proper DTT service is some way off at the moment, because of the collapse of the 'Boxer' consortium.

If you want free HD channels right now, you need a sat.
Freesat, imo, is well worth the investment.

You can get some, if you live in the right areas, from UPC too, but they are not free.

Agreed. This has always been one of the better forums. Smugness and being rude to new posters is something all us "Regulars" here are not used to.:pac:

Hi Ardan... I seem to remember reading on some other forum, that ITV have apparently postponed the idea of launching an ITV+1 service. Pity:pac:
