I'm in work all weekend so won't be able to join in the fun. Don't think the weather is looking too good though.

*sorry for making you stop in Dundrum*

Wait for Sunday or Monday, better weather. Havent been on a boards spin myself. Bit of journey over just to meet in Dundrum.

I am thinking I am going to head into the Park to practice my cross skills (or lack thereof)- that needs wet and mud and looks like we will have it tomorrow!

Might be on for a spin Sunday but unlikely to be keen on an early start, I will be recovering from this (my main aim for this season.)

Dont forget that tape measure ! Anyway it would be interesting to meet the mighty Blorg, perhaps challenge him to a round of MORTAL KLIMBING.

    Test your might. :):)

You would probably be very disappointed! Raam is the beanpole climber around these parts. I like to climb mountains but don't do it quite so quickly. I have only once got him and that was climbing Howth on a fixie. He claims it "didn't count" "what that time" as he "wasn't trying." I hold it close to my heart.

Thanks for that. I read your well travelled (alpes, pyrenees etc)so I presumed you had superior climbing skills. I must get out for a boards spin anyway before the weather closes in for the winter.

Can't do Saturday, too much House stuff to do. Been trying to get the bedroom drylined for about 6 months, if I don't get it sorted soon I'll be divorced.... hmmm more time for cycling....

I'll try to get out on Sunday with the Orwell spin.

My God! The conditions were terrible . Why didn't anybody warn us about the wind and the rain!

I'm clocking up the "in lieu" days here in work. I feel I might get one of these mythical weekends off in the next few weeks (not next week), depending on weather I'll try and get up for a spin.

Fair play to you for heading out Emty.

I saw about 100 people cycling in a duatalon today. I felt so sorry for them - sheer misery.

It looks like it may brighten up briefly tomorow.

I once met a very old man, even older than Planet-x,at the crossroads of the Sally gap. Both of us were on bikes and the conditions were a lot worse than today so we stopped for a chat.He said something I've never forgotten."..I've never regretted coming out but I've often regretted not coming out.."
Having said that,I've never seen the water at Glenmacnass flow back up the waterfall, and that's no joke.

Love that story emty....everytime I'm out in the rain and the going gets tough I think of it :)

I was tempted to go out for an upwind spin today just so I could have a tailwind like that or the way home...

So there were a few other crazy people out in the mountains today.:D

Went out at 2.30. Clondalkin-Tallaght-Bohernabreena-Piperstown(20% grade on parts of this road)-Military rd-Glencree-Circuit of Glencree (road south of the valley to Enniskerry, back to Military rd north of Glencree on the road that passes the German War Cemetery) down to the viewpoint-Killakee rd-home.

Never been out on the bike in conditions like today. Felt like I was having my face sand-blasted by the horizontal rain on Military rd. Had to keep eyes peeled for fallen branches/road debris on the wooded roads around Glencree. Savage cross winds on return on Military road had me leaning into it, a good 5 degrees off the vertical.

Was actually composing this post in my head as I cycled (strange what the mountains do to your head when you're alone) Had one of those Reggie Perrin moments ("Take a memo Miss Jones") saving it to that virtual dictaphone in my head.

Passed only 3-4 cyclists, was just about able to give the slightest wave the wind was so bad.

    Stats. from the Garmin
    Distance 62.43km
    Time 3:12hr
    Av speed 19.5
    Max speed 54.4

Anyway, hope everyone out on the bike today was safe.:)

Great spin Emty. I'll never look at teenagers in the same way again

I always struggle to get up Howth especially when on the Cervelo ;)
