Iomega Screenplay HD

    Hi All,

I dropped my Iomega Screenplay HD (500gb) onto the carpet from a desk whilst transferring some files onto it. The disk is making some clicking noises now :(

Iomega say the warranty is voided now coz of me dropping it. (I know, I wish I didn't say that to them)

I was wondering if anybody has replaced the disk in one of these before and if so where they bought the replacement disk?

I have now taken the screenplay appart and found that the disk was a Hitachi Deskstar 500gb, SATA 3.0gb/s, RPM 7200.

Whilst googling, I've found this as a possible replacement: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=435911

My only concern is that it's casing is not exactly the same as the broken one. (The broken one seems to have an extra protective aluminium cover.) I'm not certain it would work with the screenplay.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    maithulamps

Any 3.5" internal hard drive should fit in without issue

I'd have a quick google and see if theres any problems using a different capacity drive other then the original 500gb

the pic from the komplett site is just a reference one - they all come with their internals covered up as like the drive you removed
