Mid market value on exchange rates

Can anyone answer why the mid market value and the buy and sell prices are off by so much on the dollar compared to GBP in banks such as AIB? Today in AIB I saw the range for the dollar to be 10c (5c either side of the midmarket) and the sterling to be 6c (3c either side). I didnt have time at lunch to ask but it seems…

I didnt have time at lunch to ask but it seems like a lot more being charged for the dollar.
