    Hey All,

Have finally managed to get work after just over a year of being unemployed(was made redundant), however have to move down to Clonmel for the new position, does anyone know whether there is any assistance provided by the DSFA, or do I have to sign off straight away and struggle for the first month?(Just read in Xineys post that the Back to Work allowance has been scrapped)

    Any assistance much appreciated

    Thanks and regards
    Johnny

    congratulations on the new job.

yes, you do have to sign off.

however, you can visit your local cwo and apply for an exceptional needs payment on the basis that you will have no income for the first month and need to get set up in your new surroundings. You can offer to pay it back when you're on your feet if you think that would help.

Cheers Xiney, thought that it was the case that would have to sign off, will definitely have to see the CWO though(local one is in Kilkelly, Mayo), so will probably see them mid next week as will have moved down to Clonmel by Friday at the latest I would have thought.....however any exceptional needs payment will come in very handy indeed as it will be a long November :)

    Thanks for your help

    Brgds
