    Hi all

I was thinking of setting up a two piece (Pubs etc)
    Basically Rhythm and Lead guitar.
I would be making all the backing tracks with LP 8.
Just wondering what you think about this set up.

    Macbook Pro.
    Audio/MIDI interface.
    Behringer FCB1010.

Now,one of my main questions is:
Should the FCB be adequate for selecting tracks, transport control etc in lets say itunes or Qlab etc...

    All help greatly appreciated.

Please note, for all the purists out there,I would gladly give up on this idea if you'd agree to pay my Mortgage for me!

In a live setting I don't think that would be suitable at all, your better off creating the backing tracks in logic and mixing them for a live performance to a CD and then playing them off the PA on the night rather then bringing your laptop, speakers and audio interface, that setup is more geared towards studio work, hope that helps

The korg nanokontrol its a great little portible control surface if ya wanna have live control and its only about 50 euro, but its far easier to just stick the tracks on an ipod or something similar and play it through the pa

looked at your solutions and all are useable. however i run a one amn show backing tracks with me on vocals and guitar. I use a Nokia 770 to play back the tracks. i go through a preamp into the desk. Job done.
it can be as easy or complicated as you like but simple means less chance of something going wrong.

    Er... That's not true... Here's one example;

Jonny is controlling the drum loops with a Roland MIDI foot controller.

From a personal point of view, I think it'd be a lot better to have your laptop with you. Rather than just pressing play and playing along, you'd actually be performing with both instruments. You'd have a bit of scope for improv, if you want it set up that way - push yourself a little outside your comfort zone

I sort of thinking playing along with a set-in-stone backing track is cheating a bit ;)

I actually really want to work towards this stuff myself, with a view to eventually processing my guitar signal live with Pure Data or Max/MSP. That would be badass.

yeah i would agree i would rather have the versatility of a laptop and some triggers, but it depends what you wanna do, it ya just want a rigid backing trak record some stuff and slap it on an mp3 play the venue will have di boxes so you'l only need a lead, but if you'd like the improv element a sampler would be a good way to go

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
At the moment I'm leaning very much towards the iDec.
It would really be just backing tracks at the moment.
But down the road for my own material I like the look of the Roland.
    Would this sync with itunes?

    Cheers
