Heres a new one. I woke up this morning & guess what ????? The social welfare have put money in my account .......:eek::eek::eek:

A payment other than my weekly illness is there on the bank statement - DSW-VOTE. & its for loads of money.... Does anyone know what this means ? I finally got my rent allowance sorted but thats not to be issued till end of next week. ( They told me its processed last monday of every month to appear in bank account on the last wed - or thur in the case of a bank holiday)

Any ideas before I try ringing them & going around in circles....

    Thanks a mil

Are you sure it's from Dept Social Family Affairs ...DSFA? Do you other payments from them show up as DSW?

Sorry, I've just had a goo at another forum and it seems its certainly a DSFA payment. I've just copied and pasted a few bits:
    ***********************
VOTE probably means the fund that the money is being paid out from. SW benefits are paid from a VOTE (i.e. budget) given to them by the government

    *****************************
Payments from Social Welfare either come from the Fund or the VOTE. The fund is the social insurance fund, that we all pay our PRSI into out of each pay packet. It pays for the contributory schemes (unemployment benefit, old age contributory pension). The vote pays for the non contributory schemes, and is funded directly from the government.
    ***********************************

VOTE would seem to indicate that the payment is non-PRSI related payment

Yes its definitely a social welfare paymane - im on illness benefit & every week that goes in as DSW-FUND on the statement. I have applied for lone parents but they toldme I have to be assessed & there is a 14 week backlog in my office so i doubt its that. My rent allowance is next week just really unsure & certainly do not want it going out of my account on bills in case it is an error.
