Chances of flying out of Dublin on 6th November?

Assuming the upcoming protest rallies on 6th November go ahead (looks very much like they will at the moment), what do people think the chances of flying out of Dublin Airport on this day will be?

I've a flight booked with Aer Lingus on the 6th, the Workers Solidarity Movement website details that IMPACT have voted for strikes:

I'm considering now either changing dates of flights with Aer Lingus (and cancelling accomodation), or flying another airline and hopefully getting a refund if the disruption goes ahead.

The latter isn't of not much use to me if they close the airport though, anybody know if airport staff are likely to strike also?

Email / ring Aer Lingus and see what their take on the situation is...

May at least help your decision. That said they'll probably try and sympathy strike with all the goings on in their at the moment.

Fair to moderate with a slight chance of hail and showers of abuse.

I had a similar problem back in March, when there was a national day of protest due to take place.

I was due to fly out to Heathrow to connect to a flight to LAX on the day of the strike.

The airline wouldn't really discuss anything with me until the strike was 100% confirmed...but said that if it was confirmed, they would transfer me to a flight on the prior day free of charge. That was BMI by the way. Not sure what the Aer Lingus policy might be.

*bumping* this thread - now the strike is a few days away, has anyone heard anything about Dublin Airport workers staging a walkout? *worried*

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it is not a strike but a series of demonstrations which will take place from 2.30 in the afternoon. Workers are encouraged to attend but must take leave or request time off to do so. The actual strike is planned for the 24th November.

Hope I'm right as I'm due to fly out on Friday morning.

I'd agree with you olaetta, the latest update to the original link I posted seems to dismiss the word "strike" from the 6th November action (it was in there before).

Hopefully any strikes are postponed until the 24th.

I did ring up Aer Lingus a few weeks back but I couldn't get speaking to anyone who knew anything.

Fingers crossed anyway, I'll be arriving at the airport an hour earlier than usual just in case!
