TCD or UCD for a BSc in CS?

    Hey all,

    I'm a 6th year student in south dublin. I'm pretty set on doing CS and the above are the main two contenders. The commute is very equal, 3 mins more for Trinity I'd say, maybe a little more with rush our traffic, but its not enough to push me either way.

    So? Students of either, pros/cons?
    Anyone done CS? Opinions

    I know one lad doing CS and French in TCD, so it'd be good to get a UCD POV.

    Hey, I'm in 6th year looking to do CS aswell. From what I've heard, TCD and DCU are the best places to go for it. I'm thinking of doing CS and German in TCD myself. I can't really give you much information on the courses themselves as I'm pretty much in the same position as you!

    From what I've read, I think the main difference is that DCU has work placement in 3rd year for 6 months while TCD has an option of spending 3rd year abroad. Also there are around 200 places in DCU and only around 60 in TCD. As for UCD, I've ruled that out for myself so I can't tell you much about it.

    from what ive heard the U.L and DCU bs are the better ones, because you have a work placement and also a chance to go abroad!

    yeah I am doing arts with computer science and french, it's quite good and computer science through arts is the exact same as computer science through science but with arts you get to dable with arts subjects, 2 to 3 in first year, then you can joint major with french and computer science.I really like it.

    That sounds interesting, I was thinking of doing CS with German in NUIM, what college are you in?

    UCD, despite its bad publicity it is a great school with great resources.

    Yes, I was considering doing CS as part of an arts degree there a while back, but I got the 2010 prospectus and it doesn't seem to be on offer as an arts subject anymore.
