I have ultrabeat playing a beat and I have a reverb, compressor and a delay on 3 seperate busses. I want to feed reverb just into the snare drum within ultrabeat, please can anyone help a brother out?

I've never used Ultrabeat but ...

Open up another Ultrabeat, copy over snare only Midi Notes , send to reverb.

    Simple? No ?

Open ultrabeat as a multi channel instrument then create new auxillaries in the mixer and set the input as ultrabeat input 1-2 3-4 etc then assign the snare to a different output from within ultrabeat.

    Hi Dav,
One way would be to launch ultrabeat in multi output mode. Go to your snare in ultrabeat and select an output (Main - 24). In your mixer, go to your ultrabeat instrument track and press the + button you'll see at the bottom of the channel. A new aux input will appear and you can select any input from ultrabeat in the I/O. Once your snare is on the aux channel, you can use a bus to send it to your reverb. Hope this helps. Cheers

Thats not the proper way, one shouldn't have to have 2 plug ins loaded doing the same thing imo but i still think your a cutie pie :)

simplest yes, but as Dav points out the other way is the more 'correct' way to do it.
tbh i never set up any drum machine (ultrabeat or guru) as a multi out. i just set up another instance of it. I know it's bad practice but feck it.

We're spoiled with CPU power these days. Spoiled I tell ye. Good practices are gone to shyt!

Yeah it always amazes me how much power Logic can handle, it's sick. Has anyone upgraded to the latest Logic version and if so can you tell me all about it>? I am particulary interested in the audio side of things, did they improve the audio editor within Logic?

I don't think they did (i haven't upgraded). They're sticking to their guns with their audio editing i think. I know it's a pain in the ass for the people who moved from PT, myself included.

Only new function i'm interested in is the slice to sampler function (that ableton can do) but i'm not risking it just yet (too busy in too many projects to deal with the inevitable bugginess of a new version).

Apple have SERIOUSLY updated audio editing in logic 9.
Flex editing is similar to beat detective.
You can phase lock all the drum tracks in a group, select which track(s) you want as the quantize reference then quantize the drums either fully to the beat or by a percentage. Works great.

The Videos are very impressive, I love the idea of the drum replacement track running parallel to the original , unlike the Drumagog way.

Does it work as simply and as accurately as it appears to Michael ?

Listen to me batman I knew you could have multiple instances at the same time but I was looking for a practical solution not the lazy hows your father trick. I am let down by your lazy solution :P

Scissorhands seems to have a good idea, however I must have done something wrong it didn't work for me.

Scissorhands will you post a descriptive step by step tutorial, keep it short, sorry I will try it again, much appreciated.

    Yo Michael,

Since you are a Logic guru would you post a list of REALLY handly logic quick keys? I only know a few like hold the alt key down when selecting a window and it opens a new window. Whats the quick punch and record buttons? Have you a giant sexy list like a long pair of legs?

Dude get a logic keyboard they're all coloured for ya :D

Although Pauls way is not ideal it does work and I have done it many a time when I didnt have time to go faffing about with crap due to deadlines....

But multi outs should sort your prob as mentioned above :D

I guess there's no point in pointing a microphone in the right direction either?
