"Factory Image" (or lack thereof)

    Hey all,

Just have a quick question. On my Desktop, which I'm using now, when I go into Computer I have two drives (when I have nothing else connected, obviously). C drive and an extra one, D drive, Factory Image.

Inside is the "RECOVERY" icon. I'm no PC expert, but from what I understand, this is al fine and well and is used when I reformat or need to restore(?) to an earlier point in time.

My issue is, that I just realised my Laptop doesn't have this. It just has the usua; C drive and no mention of the Recovery partition anywhere (not that I can see, anyway).

Just wondering if this is normal? Or should I create a restore point in the event that I need to get rid of some stuff or run into a virus or whatever. (NOTE: I'm not very good with the terminology).

Anyone able to offer any insight here at all? The lapotp is a Sony VAIO NS20E/S if that's any use.

    Cheers :)

Some systems keep the recovery drive and/or files hidden from the normal user.
Under some windows folder viewing options, there is an ability to select how to show hidden files, etc.

Compare the full size of drive D or x/y/z (as sometimes its also named) and then compare the visible icon/file size on drive D.
Is there an unusual amount of space unaccounted for?
