does anyone know if the nokia 5300 will take > 2gb microsd?

    just got one off a friend and was wondering if i could get a 4gb one for it. nokia website says 2gb is max. my old se said 2gb was the max m2 card but i had a 4gb in it no problems:)

    It's just the manufacturers recommended max, load of bull TBH 4GB will work grand (it did on my old 5300 without lag) and i'd say you could go 8GB but don't take my word on it :)

    i got a Kingston 4Gb and it doesn't recognise it:( i didnt have to get a nokia one did i? is there anything i need to do to format it or something? i didn't with the sony ericsson but dunno.

    yeah might try that, i did copy loads of music onto it already though so thought it was formatted already

    Ahhh I see, try put it in the phone & format from that ( does it recognise it whatsoever) or else try the computer. Should wokr no problem I don't see a reason why not. I had a 4gb SanDisk in mine

    I dont understand it, i tried with a 2gb sandisk and it works grand, but not the 4gb kingston. they're both formatted as FAT32 too so just mustn't be suitable. i upgraded the firmware too on the phone but still nothing:(

    i cant format it from the phone cos i just doesn't see it, like its not even in there
