Ok, so heading out this weekend for the first time in ages and want to wear something a bit different than my usual 'jeans 'n top' combo. So I was thinking of wearing the following:

-Nice t-shirt (a bit rocker style)
    -Short denim skirt
    -Black tights
    -grey ankle boots.

I'm just not sure I can pull off the ankle boots with the skirt... any thoughts?

Sounds great. The only thing I would have a problem with is the black tights and denim skirt combo. Not a good look unless you're mixing a lot of colours and layers and a complete no-no with pumps. Might work well with ankle boots, but I'd prob go for different coloured tights. A funky colour that goes well with the t shirt would be good, or even grey or brown.

I love the sound of the outfit but the ankle boots would want to be pretty short - like not above the ankle at all - to pull it off.

Thanks pookie, the ankle boots are very short ankle boots if that makes sense and are grey, so maybe i'll try and find grey tights.

Personally I hate any tights other than black/tan.. grey might be ok but could look a lil matchy-matchy with the boots!
I think if you stuck with the nice tshirt, a grey/dusky denim skirt (ie not blue denim) and your black tights/grey ankle boots it would look great!
I wear just that except with black ankle boots loads when im out :)

Ooooh I love grey ankle boots. Maybe match the tights to your t-shirt and go with that?

Flat ankle boots and skirts only work if you have quite long thin legs. Ive tried it so many times, stupid munchkin legs.

If they have a heel it could work though.

And I really dont see a problem wearing denim skirts and black tights, depends on the shade of the denim, but Ive never worn a denim skirt out... I always think it reminds me of the 90s...
