JSA & lived abroad for 3 years independent from parents and means test

I have been told that i am only entilted to €40/week on JSA as my parents income is too high. I have since read on the dept of welfare's website that "if you have lived elsewhere in ireland (or abroad) independent of your parents for at least 3 years, benefit and privilege is assessed as €7"

    http://www.welfare.ie/syndicatedcontent/en/irish-social-welfare-system/means-test-for-social-welfare-payments/how_parents_income_can_affect_jobseekers_allowance/

I was in the UK at uni for 4 years, during this time i supported myself financially through part time jobs. I brought this up when I realised about the "living away from home" bit and I was told that I will now have to have another meeting with the inspector to prove that i lived abroad etc.

Does anyone have any experience of this and what sort of things can i use to support my case. I have a letter from my uni saying when i started the course and when i finsihed and i can also provide bank statements showing the dates that I was actively living in the UK. Is there anyting else i could/should provide that will help my case???

Have you worked at all since you came back from the UK? As far as I'm aware, as long as you've worked for one week since you came back from the Uk, you can take your record from there, combine it with your Irish one and you may have enough stamps to quality for Unemployment Benefit (non means tested) here. Do you know if you worked every week in the UK (particularly in 2007) and if you paid stamps/prsi?

i should of mentioned that i am getting €90/week in JSB as I have enough prsi contributions but because i was on low wages in relevant tax year i get a reduced rate of €90. this is why i applied for the JSA as i was told i might qualify for more if i was means tested

Hey I'm in a slightly similar situation. I have lived away from home for three years now, but have moved back, (I was at uni.) But I was receiving some money from my parents while i was in college.
